Methodology

What this site is

NYTandian is a merchant directory, daily brief, and reputation ranking of New York spa and massage shops, compiled from publicly available reviews posted on public community forums. It is updated daily. English is the primary language; Chinese is secondary.

How shops are identified

Each shop is keyed by its phone number. One shop with several numbers has a single profile listing all of its numbers, and a retired number's page redirects to the merged profile. A number shared by different shops has separate profiles. Shops with no phone number in the posts are filed under a post-based key.

How reviews are compiled

Every event links back to its original post so readers can verify it. Bodies are condensed original summaries, not verbatim copies. Poster usernames are never published; posters are referred to by generic roles. The site carries no photos, by design: photos in this industry are mostly unverified.

How numbers are computed

Counts, recommendation rates, and actual-paid price medians are computed from filed reviews only. A price median is shown only when at least 3 paid samples exist. Activity is graded in three tiers from days since last activity: active (within 30 days), dormant (31–180 days), and long-inactive (over 180 days). Rankings aggregate recent reviews and require minimum review counts; the exact formulas are internal.

What this site never does

The site never pronounces a shop closed: closure claims appear only as neutral, attributed timeline events, and readers confirm closure by phone themselves. Merchant payment buys clearly labeled display placement only — never rankings, summaries, or status grades.
